Work Shift: negotiable - requires at least 4.5 hours overlap with US Pacific time business hours
Working Hours: FT
Rate: TBD + 10% annual performance based bonus
Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and assisting with monthly financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and bookkeeping, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work both independently and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update the general ledger to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Process incoming and outgoing payments, including invoices, bills, and receipts, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a monthly basis to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
- Assist in processing payroll, ensuring that employees are paid correctly and on time, and handling any related deductions or tax calculations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, tracking actual expenses against budgeted figures.
- Assist in preparing and filing tax returns, including sales tax, payroll taxes, and other local, state, or federal taxes as required.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Utilize accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar) to manage financial data and generate reports.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and assisting with audit processes.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper, accountant, or in a similar financial role (minimum 2-3 years preferred).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
- Solid understanding of MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Certification in bookkeeping (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper, QuickBooks Certified User) is a plus.
